Artwork Description

Derek Webster creates his sculptures while listening to such rock-and-roll favorites as “Shake Rattle and Roll,” and “Twist and Shout,” and many of his sculptures dance and twist to an unheard beat. Webster believes the wood “speaks to him,” and he does not always know what the sculpture will look like until it is finished (“Hello Beautiful!”, Chicago Public Radio, August 2004).
