We’ve decided that you might appreciate an occasional FYI about upcoming events—as long as we don’t spam you with PR. Stay tuned as we tweak this feature and leave us a comment if you love it, hate it, or have suggestions.

Though the list below deals with next week, note that Phillip Prodger lectures about Eadweard Muybridge tomorrow, and the Axelrod Quartet plays tomorrow and Sunday with pre-concert lectures each night.

Events for week of April 30, 2007:

  • Tuesday: Create Your Own Sketchbook in the Luce Center. (This event repeats weekly.)
  • Wednesday: Behind the Scenes at the Lunder Center.
  • Thursday: Local artist Margaret Boozer talks about working with with clay; Deputy chief curator George Gurney and conservator Helen Ingalls talk about Luis Jiménez's sculpture, Vaquero.
  • Friday: At the Renwick Gallery (Pennsylvania Avenue at 17th Street, NW) Patricia Watkinson talks about Dale Chihuly and the founding of the Pilchuck Glass School; back at SAAM there's an Introduction to the Luce Center.
  • Saturday: Another Introduction to SAAM's Luce Center, and NPG has two events, one for their Youth Art Studios Series and another from their Artist Appreciation Family Workshops
  • Sunday: At the Renwick Gallery (Pennsylvania Avenue at 17th Street, NW) glass artist Ron Desmett talks about his work.
