CANCELED - Conservation Talk | How Do You Move a Mastodon?

Friday, April 17, 2020, 1pm EDT
Join objects conservator Ariel O’Connor to learn about the massive conservation efforts behind transporting Charles Willson Peale’s mastodon back to America. For the first time since the mid-1800s, the mastodon is on view for the special exhibition Alexander von Humboldt and the United States: Art, Nature, and Culture. Listen as O’Connor describes the process of cleaning a newly discovered plaster bust of Humboldt, architectural cast iron, and other objects featured in the exhibition.
