Krystle Stricklin

NEA Curatorial Fellow

Krystle Stricklin is the NEA Curatorial Fellow at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. She earned her PhD in art history at the University of Pittsburgh. Her dissertation is titled Grave Visions: Photography, Violence, and Death in the American Empire, 1898-1913. She received her BA and MA in art history from Florida State University. She specializes in the history of photography, photographic books and albums, and the visual culture of war and US imperialism. She was a 2019-2020 SAAM Predoctoral Fellow and a recipient of the Joan and Stanford Alexander Award for dissertations in photography from the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston in 2021.
