Search Overview

The Smithsonian American Art Museum and Renwick Gallery's website search allows users to search across:

1. Artists
2. Artworks
3. Events
4. Exhibitions
5. Fellows
6. General web pages
7. Press Releases
8. Stories
9. Video
10.  

On the main search page, you have an option to filter by type of content after conducting your initial search. You can enter any search term or phrase in the search box. 

Using Search Filters

After selecting which content to filter by, you will see an additional set of filters on whichever page you selected. For example, if you selected "Artwork", you will be able to filter by artwork type, artwork medium, artwork period, artist, and the on-view location of the work. You will then be able to  sort your results by chronological order, reverse chronological order, and relevance.
