Artwork Description

Salvatore Lascari (1884-1967) was an easel painter and muralist based in New York who created genre scenes, portraits, and architectural renderings. Lascari’s painting Thanksgiving, which has been widely reproduced, is in the collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Anthony de Francisci’s portrait of Lascari is a hollow relief in base metals with screws and a loop on the reverse, suggesting that it was produced as a sample for a client.
