Artwork Description

Sondra Freckelton began her career as a sculptor working with abstract forms but turned to realist painting in the early 1970s. Her still lifes capture the quiet beauty of domestic, often feminized objects --- quilts, garden implements, housewares, and fresh produce gathered from her own garden in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains. In Harvest, vegetables spill onto an antique quilt, a handmade reminder of the interweaving of generations.
