Artwork Description

Pool is a design meant to evoke the landscape of California. For this piece, Merry Renk developed an alternative technique of wax casting, in which she dipped cloth into wax and then pinched it around the metal to raise hills and valleys and form a "pool." She oxidized the low surfaces to create the black patina.
