Eric Nastasi, Deputy Director for Administration and Finance
Eric Nastasi is the deputy director for administration and finance at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. He joined the museum staff in 2019 as senior advisor to the director, and his appointment as deputy director began in February 2022. He is responsible for overseeing the museum’s Administrative Office, Registrar’s Office, Exhibitions and Publications, as well as managing strategic partnerships.
Previously, Nastasi was division director for advancement and partnerships at the Smithsonian Science Education Center. Prior to joining the Smithsonian in 2013, Nastasi served as a member of the advisory board for the Smithsonian Science Education Center (2009-2012), the governing board of the Arlington Arts Center (2011-2014) and the governing board of Artisphere (2011-2013).
He is an attorney by training, with experience as both in-house counsel and law firm practice. He served as counsel at Whiteford, Taylor & Preston LLP (2010-2012) and was chief operating officer and general counsel at Bitek International (2004-2010).
Nastasi earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (1991) and a JD degree from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law (1994).
