Biography

Galen Carpenter grew up in a small town in Kansas where he worked as a printer, contractor, and furniture restorer. Working in the print shop taught him how to use color, and he often adds rich turquoise, coral, or ebony to his turned wooden pieces. He never took any formal art lessons, describing himself as "right off the turnip truck," and his turned, segmented vessels often incorporate unconventional materials and patterns.
