Join us for a day of lectures and conversations related to the exhibition Artists Respond: American Art and the Vietnam War, 1965-1975. In the morning session, a distinguished group of scholars offer insight into the intersection between the Vietnam War and contemporary art practice in the United States. The afternoon session is dedicated to two panel discussions. A panel of artists, representing varied aesthetic approaches, reflect on their experience of the Vietnam War as creators and, in many cases, as activists. One panel focuses on artists who were working in California during the Vietnam War period, the other on artists then based in New York.
