Moon

  • Douglas Climenson, Moon, 1970, nylon filament and Lucite, Smithsonian American Art Museum, Gift of Douglas Climenson, 1971.109

Luce Center Label

Douglas Climenson began creating three-dimensional constructions in 1965. In Moon he used thin nylon line to suspend a clear ring of Lucite within two larger ovals. The lines appear to stretch and twist between the rings, supporting and emphasizing the piece’s delicate structure.
