  • Louise Hibbert, Radiolarian Vessel VII, 2004, English sycamore, silver, texture paste and acrylic, Smithsonian American Art Museum, Gift of Jeffrey Bernstein, M.D. and Judith Chernoff, M.D., 2021.66.19

Louise Hibbert recreates curious wonders of the marine world. Hibbert describes her process: I find that using the lathe gives my work rhythm and balance, almost like a structural backbone within each piece. I then begin carving, texturing, applying airbrushed inks, resins or metals to create the intricate details.”
