Stoney Lamar, Trio, 1999, dogwood, steel, Smithsonian American Art Museum, Gift of John and Robyn Horn, 1999.55
Stoney Lamar uses large, irregular pieces of wood that can be difficult to maneuver on the lathe. He captures dramatic movement in his sculptures, and you can almost imagine the layers of Trio spinning on their different axes.
