Windows

  • Robert Fritz, Windows, 1969, blown glass, Smithsonian American Art Museum, Gift of S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc., 1978.55.1

Luce Center Label

Windows forms part of the Petro Series in which strange shapes reveal interiors smoked with oil carbon. The piece has no conventional function but the notion of windows prompts you to look through the curves of transparent glass to the indistinct shapes and soft colors inside.

Luce Object Quote

“I limit my work to what I can comfortably handle alone since part of my enjoyment is that there is no one to disturb my concentration or limit my imagination.” Robert Fritz, Insight, 1985
