Robert Fritz, Windows, 1969, blown glass, Smithsonian American Art Museum, Gift of S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc., 1978.55.1
Windows forms part of the Petro Series in which strange shapes reveal interiors smoked with oil carbon. The piece has no conventional function but the notion of windows prompts you to look through the curves of transparent glass to the indistinct shapes and soft colors inside.
