George LeGrady was born in Budapest in 1950 and emigrated to Canada in 1956. He eventually settled in California and received an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1976; he has resided in San Francisco since 1981. He is currently Associate Professor in Conceptual Design at San Francisco State University, and Professor of Electronic Media at the Merz Akademy in Stuttgart, Germany. Recent awards include a Computer Integrated Media Award from the Canada Council and a National Endowment for the Arts Photography Fellowship. He has exhibited his work internationally. His artwork in interactive digital media explores the intersections between culture, narrative and emerging technologies.
