Artwork Description

Lisa Holt (Cochiti Pueblo) and Harlan Reano (Santo Domingo/Kewa Pueblo) have been making pottery together since 1999. Both artists are from Indigenous pueblos in northern New Mexico, where they gather and process natural clay from local deposits. Holt shapes the clay vessels and Reano paints them, often combining motifs from both artists’ pueblos while adding his own design elements. This pot’s repeated floral pattern, rendered in bright, pulsating colors, mimics the wildflower blooms of New Mexico.
