Artwork Description

Kay Sekimachi and Bob Stocksdale were married artists in Berkeley, California. They independently pursued different artistic mediums—Sekimachi is an experimental fiber artist and Stocksdale was a self-taught woodturner. Together, they created Marriage in Form, a pair of sensuous vessels that invite close looking. Sekimachi crafted a tactile, ethereal bowl of hornet’s nest paper and Stocksdale turned a smooth, sturdy bowl of Pacific yew. The pair draws comparison of material and texture, all while implying the artists’ mutual admiration for each other.
