Biography

Hans Schuler attended the Rinehart School of Sculpture in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1901 the artist became the first American sculptor to win a gold medal at the Paris Salon. Throughout his career, Schuler created public sculptures of prominent figures, including a portrait of James Buchanan that stands in Meridian Hill Park in Washington, D.C., and a statue of Martin Luther in the city of Baltimore.
