Biography

Ragnar Naess trained at the Pond Farm studio with Marguerite Wildenhain, who taught him to commit all of his emotional and physical energy to the making of each pot. He had initially planned on becoming an architect, but turned to pottery because he wanted to work with his hands and be in control of the entire creative process. In addition to creating functional pots, Naess also makes ceramic musical instruments, an entire set of which he completed for Chinese composer Tan Dun.
