Steve Gamza received a BFA in ceramics from Alfred University in 1973 and began exploring teapot forms soon after. He has a hands-on approach and develops his ideas while working directly with the clay. This technique is evident in his teapot series, in which each piece is meant to grow from and respond to the one before it. Gamza lives in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, where he and artist Stephanie Brichetto own and operate Twisted Vessel Gallery, a space dedicated to showing Gamza’s work as well as contemporary works in glass, clay, painting, wood, and jewelry by local and national artists.
