Artwork Description

Adolph Alexander Weinman (1870-1952) was Anthony de Francisci’s mentor and close friend. The younger sculptor based this portrait plaque on a photo of Weinman dating from 1912, and intended the work as a parting gift when he left Weinman’s studio. The legend at the bottom, written partly in Latin, reads: “His Pupil Anthony de Francisci Made This.”
