Artwork Description

Rachelle Thiewes likes the contrast of order and chaos in Bracelet, which was inspired by the interplay of rhythm and improvisation in jazz music. At rest, Bracelet is silent, balanced, and ordered; on the wearer’s body, however, the work comes to life, the quills rhythmically swinging and producing ripples of sound. The wearer becomes an active participant in a work of art that is as much about sound as it is about visual beauty.
