Artwork Description

Jane Sauer refers to herself as a "sculptural basketmaker," feeling that her work is more about form, color, and meaning than its ability to act as a container. She makes her baskets from coils of waxed linen thread molded around Styrofoam to help the material keep its shape. Because of her training as a painter, color is very important to Sauer and she uses a range of hues to create a particular mood for each work.
