Artwork Description

Kristen Morgin's illusionistic sculptures resemble found objects weathered by time, but they are in fact meticulously crafted assemblages made from unfired clay. Inspired by abandoned objects from people's pasts, she investigates age, nostalgia, and value in  culture -- themes rooted in the mythology of the American Dream. The fragile, vulnerable nature of this work seems almost a foreboding of the global financial crash that ensued just one year after it was completed.
