Artwork Description

This miniature of Charlotte Drayton (1781-1855) remained in the Manigault family of Charleston, South Carolina, along with a miniature of her husband, which Edward Malbone painted the following year. Joseph Manigault was a plantation owner, a member of the South Carolina legislature, and a trustee of the College of Charleston.
