Artwork Description

Necklace is an example of Linda MacNeil's jewelry that incorporates opaque glass and metal, where the metal is both a connecting device and an integral part of the design. MacNeil's father was a machinist, and as a child she spent a great deal of time in his shop. Industrial materials influenced this necklace, which is made up of metal springs and tubelike glass pieces. The composition seems playful and spontaneous, but in fact MacNeil carefully considers the relationships among every element in her work.
