Artwork Description
Malvina Hoffman was praised for her ability to capture the character of the sitter, a skill she learned while working with Rodin. In this self-portrait, Hoffman modeled herself in her own characteristic pose, as a sculptor. She looks to the side, as if she is observing a sitter.
