Artwork Description
Maurice Heaton made his decorated plates by hand cutting and grinding the glass into the desired shape. He applied the pattern directly onto the surface by tapping powdered enamel through graded sieves. The design was then set with a spray adhesive and the object fired in a kiln, allowing the piece to "slump" into the custom iron mold and the enamel powders to melt and fuse to the surface, creating a shiny, durable coating.
