I'd be lying if I said I wasn't stoked about this week's opening of 40 under 40: Craft Futures at the museum's Renwick Gallery. Our curator Nicholas Bell and assistant Debrah Dunner have been working diligently for more than two years to put this baby together, and we're all excited to see the work complete in the galleries.

One of the advantages to working with so many living artists is that they're able to come to the museum to personally install their works. Some of the pieces in 40 under 40 are site-specific installations or very intricate, so five of the artists—Nick Dong, Joey Ellis, Olek, Andy Paiko, and Mia Pearlman—have been here in the last month to put the finishing touches on their works.

We sneaked into the galleries and snapped a few photos of the action, one of which you can see above. Take a look at the rest on our Flickr photostream.

Come see 40 under 40: Craft Futures when it opens this Friday, July 20. If you simply can't wait, order the gorgeous exhibition catalogue online!
