Artwork Description
In the mid-twentieth century, state fairs provided a platform for women artists to share their stories in clay. Ruenell Foy Temps built her large clay forms by hand instead of using a traditional potter’s wheel. She described her process as a “quest to visit places I’ve never been.”
Temps won a bronze medal at the 1975 California State Fair and Exhibition for a piece similar to Stained Vase Form #1.
