Women Filmmakers Festival at SAAM

Each March, in honor of Women’s History Month, the Smithsonian American Art Museum presents its Women Filmmakers Festival. This annual event showcases a curated selection of powerful film, video, and interactive media works by women-identified creators. This screening program highlights leading and emerging visionaries who bridge the worlds of cinema and contemporary art through timely themes and connections to artworks presented by SAAM. Festival audiences are invited to join conversations between the filmmakers, scholars, and Smithsonian curators, to further engage and appreciate the impact that women have always, and continue, to make through their creative moving-image achievements.

In 2023, the Women Filmmakers Festival is presented exclusively online.
