Artwork Description

Family is one of the earliest examples of Leo Amino’s work in cast resin. Polyester resin was a relatively new material that Amino had to learn to use through trial and error. Family displays small bubbles and irregularities that would often occur during the curing process, and its brownish tint is typical of early forms of resin. Amino worked consistently with plastic for the rest of his career, developing new ways to play with the material’s transparency and ability to refract light.
