Artwork Description

Little is known about Henry Doherty Morrey, who appears on this medal. The inscription indicates that the young man lived only fifteen years, and was perhaps a victim of the great influenza epidemic of 1917. Anthony de Francisci may have been commissioned by the boy’s family to create this portrait as a memorial.
