Artwork Description

The artist credits her design approach to her childhood on a farm, where “only the essence of form remained” in the winter landscape. Eleanor Moty creates brooches that contain subtle references to this reductive, beautiful geography, as seen here in Folded Brooch, where the linear inclusions of the topaz are “reminiscent of blades of grass and stems projecting through ice on a frozen pond.”
