Artwork Description

The only clues to this man’s identity are the interlocking initials “JT” on the back of the locket, and the miniature’s descent in a branch of John Tower’s family. It is presumed that this man was John Tower, who was married to Elizabeth Cruger, granddaughter of John Cruger, who was mayor of New York from 1739 to 1744.
