Artwork Description

William Zorach greatly enjoyed the company of young people and children. He often observed his own children and strove to re-create their characteristic poses in his work. In Seated Girl the figure’s head rests on her knees in a distinctly childlike pose. With lightly closed eyes and a faint smile, she projects a feeling of contentment, as if she is without a care in the world.
