Artwork Description

Stephen Thurston wove Spatial Extension in 1990, two years before his death. He experimented with a variety of materials and combined different colored wool, silk, cotton, and metallic threads. The soft gradations of color evoke layers and folds of fabric, creating depth and movement within the design.
