Artwork Description

Claire Falkenstein’s sculptures explore the idea of infinity and often incorporate patterns that seem to move in many different directions with no single destination. She creates open webs and meshes of wire in which the empty space is as important as the network of lines. In Corona, Falkenstein packed small pieces of glass within a tangled wire structure, then fused the whole piece together in a kiln. The arrangement of vibrant colors emphasizes the tightly packed space within the welded frame.
