Beginning at the upper left and moving clockwise around this medal, the crests arrayed around the Lone Star of Texas represent the United States, the Republic of Texas, Mexico, Spain, France, and the Confederacy. Research has not yet revealed the purpose of this medal, which was designed by Joseph Renier.
