Virginia Robinson Interview

What’s your favorite memory from childhood?

“Going to Dollywood when I was 12 on a girls trip with my mom, my sister, and me. That was the only one we ever took that was just us. I got to see Dolly Parton in person. I got to see her at a couple concerts. There were lots of people down there. It was really fun and the fact that Dolly stood up for me when somebody ran me over. It was pretty awesome too. I always knew she was a good person, but I saw it first hand.  It had ruined my new boots sadly.”

When did you know that you wanted to be a nurse?

“When my uncle had kidney disease caused from diabetes, I went to the hospital to see him, and he was at the end of his life, and I was just overcome with compassion and the desire to help him. As I was helping him in his room putting lotion on him and straightening up his covers and getting them drinks, I just knew that that’s what I wanted to do as a career. It is good, meaningful work.”

What is your favorite Disney character?

"Maleficent. She’s cool and she’s powerful.  She doesn’t take anybody's crap. The fact that she turns into a dragon is a pretty good reason to like her too, and how she is also misunderstood in many ways.”

Who is your favorite singer?

"Dolly Parton. She’s unique, she doesn’t sound like anyone else. She has a beautiful spirit about her. She sings about things that I understand. Very heartfelt. A lot of her songs are about stories, and I’m fascinated with the way her mind works and stories that she’s come up with. I love that she is humble, humble beginnings. She now is a mega millionaire, but she’s never forgotten where she came from, and she’s just so down-to-earth and easy to relate to. I think most people that know anything about Dolly Parton feel like they really know her because she’s so personable and I just think she’s a great example for other people to look up to and I just love her. She gives great advice. She’s somebody that you can look up to when you need help figuring out a life situation. She comes up with little sayings just to help you to understand the concept to try to teach you. I have always looked up to her as a parental figure, because she’s always so loving and accepting of everyone, and I just felt like she was someone that could trust to go to for advice.”
